History: Leon’s father, Den Minnis, was a scientist working on Project 43F, the project to create an intelligent animal. The result was Pan, who not only had intelligence, but enhanced durability and phenominal speed.
The scientists were ecstatic. However, only Leon (a visitor) and Den seemed to care about Pan as an individual at all. The other three scientists treated Pan like an experiment, nothing more.
Suddenly, one day, one of the lab’s machines blew up, damaging everyone inside except Pan, who was protected from the rubble by the cage he was in. Leon and Den were badly injured and the other three scientists were dead. Pan immediately picked the lock on his cage and dialed the hospital, then went into Leon’s pocket, hoping that the doctors wouldn’t search in there. Luckily, they didn’t.
Later, the three of them went to the remains of the lab to recover what they could and found only a temporal backpack (which Leon carries to this very day). However, he had the backpack redecorated, so it would not be so likely to remind them of the explosion. Pan was especially sensitive to it, since he was the one who was conscious to see his friends hurt.
