Portal Three: Hyrule

Cat urged her horse on, ducking as a bird clipped her head. She had her eyes squeezed shut, opening them only as she heard Malon shout. WHen she looked up, she nearly lost her grip on the reins.
She was headed for the ranch wall.
There was no way she coulld stop her mount, they were going way too fast... She only had one option.

She waited until the timing was right, then pulled up on the reins. Not a heavy tug, but just a short, sharp get-up.
The horse jumped, soared over the fence, and landed on the other side, breathing heavily as it landed.

Marie and Malon had squeezed their eyes shut, opening them gradually and expecting so see a Cat-shaped blob on the brick wall...

But there was nothing...it was as if Cat and her ride had disappeared in thin air.

Cat looked around. She was...on the field?? Her horse had jumped the wall???

She grinned hugely and patted the neck of her ride. "Yes!! That was amazing! I never knew you could do something like that!!"

Malon was shocked, "Where did she go...?"

She instinctively stepped away from Marie...maybe they used dark magic!

Cat came galloping through the gates, a huge grin plastered all over her face. "Did you guys SEE that??"

The redheads shook their heads.

"I was scared to look..." Marie admitted sheepishly.

"We were headed towards the wall, but the horse jumped, and we...I swear to God, the horse flew..."

Marie's face broke into a grin. "ARE YOU SERIOUS?!" she squealed.

Malon laughed, "Oh, that's Windy. She's always been a good jumper...but I didn't know she could do that!"

Cat was beaming as she climbed off her horse. "That was, undoubtedly, the coolest. Thing. Ever."

Marie laughed, "I don't think I could pull it off. Never. In the history of ever."

Malon smiled warmly, "Would you two like to stay for dinner?"

Cat nodded, taking teh saddle off the horse's back. "That'd be great!"

Marie grinned.

"Nice place you have here." she said conversationally.

Malon smiled gently, "Yes..." she said wistfully, "Nice."

Nice and peaceful...and dreadfully boring... she thought.

"I'd give anything to be able to live here," Cat gushed, putting the tack in its proper place. "You're so lucky, Malon!"

"I second that." Marie said dreamily, "It's absolutely divine!"

Malon forced a smile, "It's rather...relaxing, I dare say. That is, when I'm not tending to the farm. I like to sit in the fields and sing when I have the time," she said, motioning to the sea of grass, bobbing in the wind.

She laughed, "But enough of that...you two tell me about your land, alright?"

Marie sighed, "Alright...it's...well, it's very different from here..."

"Quite. It's a bit noisier...Okay, a lot noisier. And there are more people..." Cat frowned, not sure how to further explain.

Malon grinned, "It sounds exciting!"

Marie nodded, "We have huge cities with skyscrapers, cars, and planes..."

"...What?"

Marie smiled, "They're things from our world...I wish I had pictures..."

"...Pictures?"

Marie threw Cat a helpless glance

"We have huge, tall buildings," Cat translated as best she could. "And cars are...metal wagons, but they aren't pulled by horses. Planes are...oh, gosh...nevermind about them..."

Malon looked quite perplexed. "I'm sorry...I don't understand..."

Marie giggled, "Don't worry...we'll show you...someday."

Marie meant, of course, that she might bring pictures back to Malon, but the curious Hylian already had a different idea in mind.

Cat nodded. "Yeah, we'll have Jerm put together a collection for you."

[[Muahaha]]

"Oh, I should like that very much!" she cried, smiling.

Marie laughed. "Not a problem."

"Speaking of the nerd..." Cat fished around in her pocket, pulling out her mini-mike, none the worse for wear after being drenched. "Aha!"

Marie made a face. "So that's where you keep it. How is it not destroyed by the lake?"

"No idea." She shook it out, then held it to her throat. "Cat to Jerm...Come in, Jeremy...Can you hear me?"

Marie twiddled her thumbs.

"Soo...Malon...if I may be so bold...what's for eats around here?"

Malon smiled, "You'll see...it's a surprise.:

Marie looked at her apprehensively, "I don't know what to think of that..."

Malon grinned, "You won't. Ever."

Cat frowned. "No dice. It musta fried in the Lake."
Then, "Did someone say 'eat'?"
